Halston Davis recently spoke with Juris Education about his journey to becoming an attorney. In this interview, he provided advice for aspiring attorneys, especially those interested in the specialty of workers’ compensation law.

Davis’ motivation for becoming a lawyer was due to “my years of experience as a legal secretary and paralegal, along with the fact that my father and brother were both attorneys, law school felt like a natural next step.”

As Davis recalled his journey as a law student, he said “Between the ages of 17 and 30, I worked in law firms as a legal secretary and paralegal. That experience gave me an insider’s perspective on the profession.” Students looking for suitable work experience for law school should take note of this.

Since AI is making splashes in many industries, Davis also talked about AI’s role in law. He thinks that “There are several emerging areas that seem poised for significant growth, including artificial intelligence, drone regulation, and cybersecurity. In addition, certain fields will always be in demand, such as intellectual property, health and insurance law, trusts and estates, and real estate transactions.”
